Alessandro Placitelli
Hi, I'm Alessandro! I was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, and from a young age, I was fascinated by how things worked. I always loved exploring computers, video games, and gadgets, and I would spend hours figuring out how to use them and what made them different from one another. I was also naturally drawn to math and physics, which helped me understand the logic behind the technology I enjoyed so much. That curiosity slowly turned into a passion for engineering and invention.
When I was 17, I moved to the United States to chase a dream that had been growing in me for years: becoming an engineer. I earned my degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University in May 2022, where I built my first major projects, including a smartwatch made entirely from scratch. Those early experiments taught me that engineering was more than just circuits and code. It was a way to bring ideas to life.
While in college, I started documenting my builds online as a hobby. I had no audience and no clear direction, only the desire to share what I was creating. But after finishing a few projects, I realized how much I enjoyed the process of designing, building, and showing the story behind it. That is how PLACITECH was born.
At first, my videos focused on explaining how my projects worked, breaking down the electronics and the logic behind each invention. After college, I experimented with a more humorous approach, mixing technology and comedy to reach a broader audience. It helped me grow quickly and connect with people all over the world, but over time I realized that what truly fulfilled me was the engineering itself.
Today, PLACITECH has evolved into a creative engineering brand centered around DIY technology. Each project combines hands-on design, 3D printing, electronics, and a touch of imagination. My mission is to make engineering exciting and accessible to anyone who loves to build.
Whether it is a robot that plays beer pong, a retro-futuristic console, or an automatic water bottle that sprays on command, every project starts from the same place: curiosity. I believe technology should not only be understood but also played with.
My goal now is to keep pushing the limits of what can be built from scratch, share what I learn along the way, and inspire others to bring their own ideas to life, one creative (and sometimes ridiculous) invention at a time.
